A little bit about me...

Hi! I’m Caitlin, the makeup artist behind Makeup by Cait.

This is year 5 for me in this business. I seriously can’t believe it. Where has all the time gone. I was born and raised on the west side of the mountains in the Puget Sound area of Washington state. In high school I was gifted a Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay and I had no idea what to do with it or how to use it. Enter YouTube tutorials. I became obsessed and for two years spent nearly every dollar I made at Ulta or Sephora, a choice my dad was very happy about... NOT! I would stay up until 2am practicing looks over and over again. I started doing makeup for my little sisters friends for dances and special occasions for a little money here and there. Eventually, I moved east to the Central part of the state to pursue an education in teaching and I loved every minute of it! Makeup was on hold for a couple years because I didn’t know anyone on this side of the mountain that needed it and in my head it was just a hobby not an actual business. Slowly I started making friends with people from around the area and as they started to get married I noticed they were having a hard time finding a makeup artist that wasn’t already incredibly booked or had to travel two plus hours to work the wedding. A light bulb went off in my head and I decided to reassemble my kit and start doing special occasion makeup again. Before I knew it this little hobby I had on the side began to flourish into a little business! My life got very busy very quickly as I started teaching high school Physical Education full-time and pursuing what I call my "passion project”, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

In my free time you will find me road tripping, on a plane, spending time with my family and friends and WORKING. Your girl loves a busy schedule. I teach cycle classes and coach golf on the side. You only live once right? I also am an avid book reader. My goal this year is to read 100 books. If you’re in my chair PLEASE talk books with me. I love all things music - concerts, festivals, and I probably know all the words to most songs playing - hand me the aux cord I’m your girl.

I’m so excited for this journey and I have no idea where it’s going to take me, but I’m all in!
